This page names the person who runs grnyte and says how to reach me, as required by section 5 of the German Digital Services Act (Digitale-Dienste-Gesetz, DDG). It also lists the contact points required by the Digital Services Act (DSA) of the European Union.

1. Operator

I run grnyte on my own, as a private individual resident in Germany:

  • Name: Robert Wettstädt
  • Postal address: c/o IP-Management #11748
    Ludwig-Erhard-Straße 18
    20459 Hamburg

2. Contact

The fast electronic contact channel under section 5 DDG is email:

I accept mail in German and English.

3. Contact points under the Digital Services Act

The DSA requires two contact points, one for authorities and one for you.

3.1 Point of contact for authorities (Art. 11 DSA)

Authorities of the Member States, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services write here:

I accept communication at this address in German and English.

3.2 Point of contact for users (Art. 12 DSA)

You reach me at this address directly, without an intermediary. It is the same address as the section 5 DDG contact channel and the Art. 11 DSA point of contact above, because one person reads one inbox:

I accept communication at this address in German and English. Write to the postal address in section 1 instead if you would rather not use email: Article 12(1) DSA asks that the choice be yours, and neither channel is automated.

4. Nature of the service

I run grnyte as a free, non-commercial service.

There is no company behind it, no employees and no revenue. There is no advertising and nothing is sold. For that reason I hold no value added tax identification number and have no commercial register entry.

I publish the source code under the MIT license.

5. Responsibility for content

Members of a region write the content on grnyte, and I do not check it.

Users submit the route names, grades, descriptions, topo lines, photographs, videos, ascent logs and comments. I do not review, verify or approve any of it, before or after it appears.

The German Interstate Media Treaty (Medienstaatsvertrag, MStV) asks a service with journalistic and editorial content to name a responsible person. Section 18(2) MStV targets journalistic and editorial content, which grnyte does not carry: members submit guidebook data and logs, not edited articles. I include the entry out of caution anyway:

  • Responsible for content under section 18(2) MStV: Robert Wettstädt, at the address in section 1

6. Consumer dispute resolution

I do not take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

7. Related pages

The rest of the legal detail sits on these pages:

  • The privacy notice lists what data I store, which processors touch it and what rights you have
  • The terms set out the rules for using grnyte and for the content you upload
  • The reporting page takes reports about content on grnyte
